Barry Owen OBE, Chairman of Mason Owen, founded the business together with Geoff Mason in Liverpool in 1967. Due to their deep affection for Liverpool, they retained headquarters in the city, whilst establishing a national profile.
From their shared ambition and courage, the business evolved from the two of them sharing a small office to become a significant employer in the city. Mason Owen has trained hundreds of Chartered Surveyors over the years, many of whom have stayed with the firm for their whole career in property.
Supporting the local community has always been part of Mason Owen’s ethos and, over the years, the firm has sponsored several local charities.

Full of youthful courage and ambition, Barry Owen founded Mason Owen & Partners with Geoff Mason. Their first clients were Kwik Save, Greggs and Ethel Austin. In 1969, the company moved into Gladstone House which would be their home for the next 50 years.
Mason Owen rapidly expands, also now acting for Iceland on their UK expansion. They open offices in London, Edinburgh and Dublin, as Mason Owen & Lyons.
Mason Owen continues to grow and becomes the exclusive letting agent on the UK’s first major out-of-town shopping centres at Meadowhall, Sheffield and Merryhill, Birmingham.
Mason Owen continues to advise major nationwide brands and investors, and asset management services grow. The company celebrates 30 years in business.
Mason Owen receives the Estates Gazette Award for Property Advisor of the Year, North West, in 2005, 2006 & 2007. Mason Owen celebrates 40 years in business.
